Planning Application Withdrawn

After more than two years of constant campaigning, this group can announce that the unpopular application for a Greenway along the North Down Coastal Path has been unanimously voted out by Councillors.

This group has helped provide a voice to the thousands of people who use and love the path in its current form.

The proposal for the shelving of this scheme was led by Councillor Ray McKimm. The DUP agreed that it should be withdrawn but on the condition that a Working Group should be set up to address problems of connectivity.

The Alliance Party, which previously showed full support for the scheme, eventually recognised the unpopularity of it and in acknowledgement to the wishes of the public, added their voices to the final vote.

In the end there were no votes to support the scheme, which was finally withdrawn.
